Gilmore Girls (styled onscreen as Gilmore girls) is an American comedy-drama television series created by Amy Sherman-Palladino and starring Lauren Graham (Lorelai Gilmore) and Alexis Bledel (Rory Gilmore). The show debuted on October 5, 2000, on The WB and became a flagship series for the network.
- Lauren Graham as Lorelai Gilmore. Lorelai Gilmore was the definition of a "cool mom," and there was no one better for the role on Gilmore Girls than Graham.
- Alexis Bledel as Rory Gilmore. Bledel made her television debut when she landed the role of Lorelai's daughter, Rory Gilmore. Rory was smart, quiet but just as caffeine obsessed and witty as her mom.
- Scott Patterson as Luke Danes. Patterson had appeared in a few television shows and films before really making a splash as Lorelai's on-again/off-again love interest.
- Melissa McCarthy as Sookie St. James. McCarthy put her comedic chops to good use when she played the clumsy, yet lovable, chef and best friend of Lorelai.
