Oct 28, 2021 · GRAPEVINE – is an unincorporated community in Kern County and is located at the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley. A small village sits next to Interstate 5 and consists mainly of roadside services. Grapevine sits at the foot of a steep grade known as “the Grapevine” that lies in the Grapevine Canyon through Tejon Pass.
Jun 22, 2017 · Grapevine Canyon has the unusual history of holding five villages within its arms. The first recorded settlement was that of the village of “Mat’apxwelxwel” thought to be occupied by a variety of Native people as it was on the edge of the lands of a number of tribes.
The Grapevine Historical Society originated the Historical Marker (Landmark) program and has dedicated and provided markers for various landmark buildings in Grapevine.
