How to See the Sign. The best places to see the Hollywood Sign are Griffith Observatory and Hollywood & Highland. You can hike toward the Sign along trails in Griffith Park, but you cannot get too close. The Sign is NOT illuminated at night.

Sep 15, 2022 · The observatory is where the ending scenes of Dean's film "Rebel Without a Cause" were shot. The unobstructed view of the Hollywood sign behind it is a good photo opp, but you'll find a lot more to do at that location in the Griffith Park Observatory Guide.

The trail intersects and follows an asphalt road that leads to the very top of Griffith Park, right above the Hollywood sign. Be aware of hot weather as there is little to no shade on this hike. Bring water, and hike early or late in the day, if possible. The views are worth it!
The hike to the Hollywood Sign starts in one of North America's largest urban parks, Griffith Park, located in Hollywood.
