Hans Kammerlander (born 6 December 1956, Bolzano, South Tyrol, Italy) is an Italian mountaineer, living in Ahornach, a hamlet nearby Sand in Taufers. He has climbed 11 of the 14 8000m peaks. In 1984, together with Reinhold Messner he was the first climber to traverse two 8000 m peaks before descending to base camp.
Hans Kammerlander is a mountain guide and ski instructor. He still lives in his birthplace in the “Tauferer Ahrntal” and is the father of a daughter.
Kammerlander was born on a farm in Ahornach, a small mountain village in Tauferer Ahrntal, in 1956. As a boy he climbed the 3,000 m high Mt. Großer Moosstock that is part of the Durreck Group, where his passion for mountains has started.
