      • Hellmaster gone and mastered the art of brain melting yes it did! A real 90s oddity that has lots of bizarre tricks up its sleeve. An unbalanced yet highly effective mash up of camp, dark tones, wacky FX, Argento wannabe lighting, proggy Italian sounding score and a creepy atmosphere. All filtered through a low budget lens of lunacy.

  2. Aug 5, 2019 · Hellmaster - Movie Review: Shot in and around Detroit, Michigan primarily on location at a neat old sanitarium, the story told by this clunky early-nineties horror picture is a bit of a mess. Still, the visuals are often times very impressive and hey, John Saxon and David Emge are both in it - so it's got that going for it.

  3. Overall, Hellmaster is a film that struggles to impress but still deserves at least one watch. Horror fans will want to pick this up on blu from Vinegar Syndrome for their collections. Special Features:

When Blu-rays boast a restoration of an older film, it’s difficult at times to really judge the work done on scanning and restoring the film because there’s nothing readily available to compare the picture to. But in the case of this release, the disc also contains a director’s cut — HELLMASTER. This version has a running time about five minutes le...

I can’t recommend HELLMASTER a.k.a. THEM as a movie watching experience. Fans of John Saxon and DAWN’S Flyboy, David Emge, will certainly get a kick from adding this movie to their collection. HELLMASTER has more to offer fans of special effects and makeup work, than casual fans of horror. Vinegar Syndrome does what they always seem to do. They tak...

Jul 30, 2019 · Review: Twenty years ago at the Kant Institute of Technology, Professor Jones conducted a series of mind-altering experiments on students and members of the homeless community, hoping to unlock the secrets of mental telepathy. There were dangerous side effects that left the subjects transformed into violent, disfigured mutants.

  6. Dec 16, 1992 · Hellmaster has a few things going for it. The best is that it scored two good horror names in the cast: John Saxon (A Nightmare on Elm Street) and David Emge (Dawn of the Dead). The second best is the storyline involving Saxon as an insane professor experimenting on the homeless and his college students with a drug he calls the reward.

  7. Oct 3, 2021 · Hellmaster is one of those low-budget horror films that shouldn’t work and yet somehow, it does. Yes, the plot makes absolutely no sense and, with the exception of genre vets Saxon and Emge, the performances are almost all terrible.
