Ollie Johnston. Oliver Martin Johnston Jr. (October 31, 1912 – April 14, 2008) was an American motion picture animator. He was one of Disney's Nine Old Men, and the last surviving at the time of his death from natural causes. [1] [2] [3] He was recognized by The Walt Disney Company with its Disney Legend Award in 1989.
It has now been more than 60 years since One Hundred and One Dalmatians debuted in January 1961, and while it remains a quintessential Disney animated film, it also marked a drastic departure from the animated features Walt produced during the 1930s, 40s, and 50s. In many ways, it bears little resemblance to anything that came before or after it.
