is a Cthulhu Mythos graphic novel published by Arcana Studio, the first in their Howard Lovecraft series. Written by Bruce Brown and featuring artwork by Renzo Podesta, it was released in February 2010. Both trade paperback and digital editions were issued.
Howard Lovecraft, a small boy traumatised by his father Winfield's insanity, inherits a book of magic from the old man, and is transported to a realm of ice filled with strangeness. Saving the life of a creature named Spot who pledges its services to him, the boy is subsequently tricked into helping the people of R'lyeh: a city cursed by its former inhabitants to remain a frozen wasteland for all eternity for the crime of attempting to raise Cthulhu.
Defeating a Jinn named Dagon and returning a spellbook to the king of R'lyeh, Howard is quickly prepared as a sacrifice in the ritual to awaken Cthulhu. Although Spot manages to save the boy and cast him through a portal which returns him home, Spot's fate is left untold.
In October 2016, Arcana Studio released an animated film adaptation of the comic. Starring Ron Perlman, Christopher Plummer, Jane Curtin, and Doug Bradley, distribution was handled by Shout! Factory.
