The Gangster Disciple Nation (often abbreviated as the GD's, formally GDN), also known as Growth & Development, is an African American street and prison gang which was formed in 1968 by Larry Hoover and David Barksdale. The two rival gangsters united together to form the Black Gangster Disciple Nation (BGDN).

Oct 5, 2020 · Gangster Disciples created mayhem on Milwaukee’s north side in the 1990s when homicide was at its apex (around the time Coleman was born). We’ve found indictments of GDs throughout the country, including charges in 2020, one of a “regional boss.” They span from Georgia to Wisconsin.
June 19, 1973: Ike Taylor, 22, Henry Hearn, 20, are convicted of shooting Albert Harris, 18, because he refused to join the Supreme Gangsters. A 3rd person, Ronald Lawson, was acquitted. Dec. 5, 1973: BPSN killed by CPD: Jesse Hooker, 18, of 4652 S. Lake Park, killed at BPSN headquarters 7854 S. Coles.
