     The URL http://http.brammies.com does not refer to a form handler. From the outside, it is impossible to tell what the action attribute value should be.

     From the response given by the server when http://http.brammies.com is accessed directly, it seems that the attribute value should be http://http.brammies.com/cgi-bin/ followed by some filename of a CGI script.

     This is incorrect:

     echo "<img src='" . $img1 . "' alt='image'/>"; ^^^^^-

     You have not defined $img1 anywhere, hence your error. This is also NOT how file uploads are performed in PHP. Given

     <tr><td>Image 1</td><td><input name="img1" type="file" /></td></tr>-

     you will get file upload metadata in $_FILES['img1']. There will be no $_POST['img1'], period. How to handle file uploads in PHP is documented here: http://www.php.net/manual/en/features.file-upload.post-method.php

     When the user uploads an image, just do the following and you will be safe to append the image HTML to the textarea:

     • Is the user upload a valid JPG/GIF/PNG/x image? (Use image libraries to verify that.)
     • Rename the image to something "safe" like a CRC32 of its contents + the current time in microseconds so the file name is innocuous.
     • Put the image with its new name in a location that can be served.

     If I understand you right you first want to upload the image and then display it to the user without reloading the page.

     Then you first have to upload it with PHP or an other language to your server using Ajax and then replace the image, therefore send the path of the image with the Ajax response and do the replace.

     Here is an example how to do this.

     It is most likely because you are using a root relative path OR the folder where you want to save it doesn't have the needed permissions. However, I am seeing that you are not validating the type of file uploaded to the server. Use the following snippet to validate file type and size:
