I respect the third more than DE because A, it was the first "Mafia" game with (albeit bad imo) "modern" third person combat (I prefer Mafia 2's combat but it does feel a little clunky in a dated way). And B, because its a lot harder to write your own story and characters and missions if its not a remake of a prexisting one.
