Basically two different cuts are available. Back in the days when the movie was shown theatrically in the States a R-Rated Version was created that misses out several plot scenes and some pieces of violence. On DVD the movie was released as an Unrated Director's Cut as well.
There's definitely an airhead Little Annie Fannie component at work here. Kitaen improves on Jane Fonda's faux-abandon as Barbarella; compared to this film's free spirit Fonda seems far too intent on 'acting' her role rather than just 'being' it. Gwendoline's sidekick Beth is a comic dark-haired co-adventuress.
