This is a very well maintained loop located in the Horine Reservation of Jefferson Memorial Forest. Just like all of the other trails within the forest, it has very clear trail markers with the trail itself being very well kept. The Red Trail is the longest loop with an optional shortcut 3.1 miles. The Siltstone Trail is located in Jefferson Co Memorial Forest, about 15 miles south of downtown Louisville. From I-65, turn west on the Gene Snyder Freeway (I-265). Travel about 2 miles, and turn south at the Fairdale-National Turnpike exit.
Contact. This trail begins at the Welcome Center of Jefferson Memorial Forest and winds its way up a ridge to an awesome view of Louisvilles skyline. Continue on to Mitchell Hill Trail and the Horine Reservation. There is a spur trail that is under construction.
