John Kinder Labatt (1803 – 26 October 1866) was an Irish - Canadian brewer and the founder of the Labatt Brewing Company . Life and career. Descended from French Huguenot exiles who had become Anglican, he emigrated from Ireland to England and thence to Upper Canada in 1833 with his wife.
History. Labatt Breweries was founded by John Kinder Labatt in 1847 in London, Canada West (now Ontario ). Kinder had immigrated to Canada from Ireland in the 1830s and initially established himself as a farmer near London. In 1847, he invested in a brewery with a partner, Samuel Eccles, launching "Labatt and Eccles".
Born in Ireland, John Kinder Labatt came to Canada in 1834 and began farming near London. In 1847 he acquired an interest in the London brewery of Samuel Eccles, which had been established by John Balkwill in 1827-28.
