Jonathan Callan (b.1961) British Council Collection Artist, born in Manchester, who graduating with first-class honours from Goldsmiths’ College, 1980–4, obtaining a higher diploma in fine art, sculpture, from Slade School of Fine Art, 1988–90.
Callan is known for his range of innovative techniques for transforming paper into a powerful sculptural medium. His applications range from slicing and chipping, to extruding silicone through paper. In Callan's work, displacement plays a multiplicity of roles.
