  3. Mar 7, 2024 · Colloquium with LSU Boyd Professor Ken Schafer Attosecond pulses are the shortest light pulses made and the subject of the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics. In this talk I will recount how the discovery of high harmonic generation in the 1980’s gave rise to an avalanche of activity in the 1990’s that paved the way for the production and measurement of the first attosecond pulses in 2001.
