Visiting Kilmainham Gaol. Access to the Gaol is by guided tour only, and you must pre-book your ticket. A select number of tickets are released 28 days in advance and can be booked from midnight (Irish time).

Booking Tickets. Access to Kilmainham Gaol is by guided tour only and entrance is managed through timed tickets. Tickets cannot be transferred to another date/time. Unfortunately, latecomers cannot be accommodated. Visitors can book a maximum of 9 tickets. Tickets can be booked 28 days in advance.
The East Wing. This new wing was built in the 1860s, to the design of architect John McCurdy, and reflected the new ideals of Victorian prison theory. Modelled on Jeremy Bentham’s Panopticon, every cell is visible from a central platform. There are ninety-six cells in all. Light is particularly important in this East Wing.
