Detroit City High / McGraw Middle / Longfellow School - 1963-2007 A school with many identities: at various times the small school on the west side has gone by the names McGraw, Longfellow, and lastly, Detroit City Alternative High. Notable for being one of the few schools abandoned due to increasing enrollment.

In 1928, an addition was built onto the west side of the school, including classrooms and a new gymnasium. A second addition in 1969 doubled the size of the school, which was reconfigured.
Sep 13, 2016 · Michigan Radio. Judge Nathaniel R. Jones, 2016. Jones was the NAACP General Counsel who pursued the Bradley versus Milliken case. In 1969, Jones had just been hired as the top lawyer of the NAACP. With the new law in Michigan, Detroit became a target for a desegregation lawsuit. The case became known as Bradley versus Milliken.
