Sindiwe Magona (born 27 August 1943) is a South African writer. Early life. Magona is a native of the former Transkei region, South Africa. She grew up in Gugulethu, a Cape Town township, and worked as a domestic while completing her secondary education by correspondence.

I MAN LANDS ON THE MOON. When Mamkwayi came to this moment, she would shake her head and a faraway look would steal into her eyes. She'd appear as though she'd clean forgotten where she was or what she was about. Only a gnawing sorrow lay on her brow.
Ms Magona is the founder and Executive Director of South Africa 2033. A worker for peaceful change during the years of struggle in South Africa, she was one of the founding members of the Women’s Peace Movement in 1976.
