The Moses Fowler House is located at the corner of 10th and South streets in Lafayette, Indiana. The house is considered the finest example of a large Gothic Revival residence still standing in the United States. Upon his death in 1889, aged 74, Fowler had accumulated a fortune of an estimated three million dollars. [2]
Nov 2, 2021 · The Story of Fowler House Mansion. The Gothic style mansion was built from 1851- 1852 by Moses Fowler, who in 1839 had moved from Ohio to Lafayette, Indiana, to pursue his dreams with his business partner and founder of Purdue University, John Purdue.
The Fowler House in Lafayette is Indiana’s foremost residential example of the Gothic Revival. The style emerged in the Wabash River Valley during the period between the opening of the Wabash and Erie Canal in 1843 and the completion of the first regional railroad in 1852.
