The New York publishing firm closed in Sept. 1998. The Canadian development operation continued until the latter part of 2003 when it filed for bankruptcy. Sir-Tech Software was a gaming company founded by brothers Norman Sirotek and Robert Sirotek, and was most famous for its genre-defining Wizardry series of role-playing games.

Sirotek therefore decided to ask one of his sons, Norman, if he would be willing to drive Robert out to New Jersey for the show.
