Mar 17, 2009 · So I bought a bottle on-line of "Ole Time Woodsman's Fly Dope" and sure enough, there was that familiar "scent". I would spray it on my booney hat and never had a problem after that with the bugs. However, as good as it worked for me, it also repels people.

I've used Ole Time Woodsman Fly Dope for 34 years with danged good results. Only issue is you'll stink like an ole time woodsman.

Jan 7, 2016 · I am wondering if the made in Maine, Ole Woodsman Fly Dope works or is there some other product that has proven effective. It works on blackflies ( which I believe you rare referring to) but in Maine they are early emergers and less so later in the season like August.
