In January 1997, the New Friendship family began its search for a new pastor. The Lord kept the New Friendship family together under the faithful leadership of the church's deacons for twenty months. During these months, new members continued to be added to the family.
The new fellowship was called Friendship Baptist Church and Rev. W. M. Hill served as the first pastor. As the membership grew, the church was enlarged again under the pastorate of Rev. O. B. Brown. After the resignation of Rev. Brown, Rev. S. Jordan became pastor.
