Paulette Jiles was born and raised in the Missouri Ozarks, and now has dual citizenship with Canada. A critically acclaimed poet, she is a past winner the Canadian Governor General Award, Canada's highest literary honor. Her previous books are North Spirit (1995) and Cousins (1992). She lives with her husband in San Antonio, Texas.
