Pirmasens (German pronunciation: [ˈpɪʁmazɛns] ⓘ; Palatine German: Bärmesens (also Bermesens or Bärmasens)) is an independent town in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, near the border with France.
The U.S. Army Military Community Pirmasens, a forerunner of the 294th BSB, activated in 1974. In August 1976, USMCA-P became a subordinate unit of the newly established 21st Support Comd., with the mission of providing base operations support to the Pirmasens military community.

Originally built in place of an apple orchard, the Husterhoeh Kaserne covered a large plateau to the North of the city of Pirmasens, as well having an extremely large system of caves and tunnels that ran to adjacent townships.
