Its vertical axis looks at whether an organization is more focused on stability or flexibility, and its horizontal axis looks at whether the organization is more inwards or outwards looking.
Robert E. Quinn and Kim S. Cameron identify four types of culture. Clan culture. A very friendly working environment where people have a lot in common and which strongly resembles a large family. The leaders, or the heads of the organisations, are viewed as mentors and maybe even as father figures.
The Competing Values Framework (CVF) was first published in 1983 by R.E. Quinn and J. Rohrbaugh, as a result of their research into organizational culture and leadership. The CVF was created to help an organization understand its culture, and to determine what makes it truly effective.
