I-r0k fancied himself an elite gunter but Wade considered him to be nothing but a poseur due to him lacking any typical Halliday knowledge and always brandished an over-size plasma rifle, even in chat rooms.

Wade Watts finds him extremely obnoxious and immature. In the beginning of Ready Player One, Wade calls him a poseur in the Basement. I-r0k frequently comments on Wade's lack of wealth, once calling him "Captain-No-Credits" and suggesting that he should be out panhandling.

About a year before Ready Player One begins, Wade hitched a ride off of Incipio with I-r0k to gain a few experience points. After dropping Wade off at Greyhawk, he followed him and screenshotted him camping and repeatedly slaying a small band of kobolds as that was the extent that his avatar's combat ability could handle. I-rOk then showed the screen shot images to other gunters to make fun of Wade's weak avatar.

After Wade and Aech find the Copper Key, I-r0k makes an attempt to blackmail them. He tells them via e-mail that he will post their information on every known gunter forum unless he's given information about the key and the First Gate. After Wade and Aech refuse to give him any information, he goes through with his threat. At first, I-r0k's plan to blackmail the two gunters seems to fizzle as he couldn't prove that he actually knew them; however, Wade and Aech believe that I-r0k's forum posts tipped off Nolan Sorrento and the Sixers to finding the first key on Ludus.

•I-r0k's name is probably a pun on the boast "I rock" ("I excel at this"). The spelling (lower case r, zero instead of O, no c) is a typical "leet" spelling. He even references his name's pun in the film.

•I-rOk liked to call Parzival "Penis-ville".

•I-r0k and Aech attend the same school and had a few classes together.

•I-rOk was Level 14 at the start of Ready Player 1.

•Aech allows him entrance into the Basement because he is fun to beat at videogames and I-rOk's ignorance gives him hope that, since his ignorance represents how clueless the other gunters are, he and Wade have a chance to win Halliday's contest.

•I-rOk's name was mis-spelled as "I-Roc" in Ready Player Two, in Chapter 2.

  2. I-R0k : No man is a failure who has friends. I-R0k : '... whereas my plan, which was cool because: I rock, actually worked'. [responding to Sorrento accusing him of failure] I-R0k : Well, Buckaroo blows it. Shocking.

  7. May 17, 2018 · We don't know. We can suspect that he was a gamer who was sufficiently talented to have been recruited by IOI to help them gain artifacts, kill gunters, and generally do dirty work. In the book, Irok is at school with Wade and has a smaller part to play in the plot. We don't find out anything about his/her real persona either in the book or film.
