Mar 12, 2007 · Richard Jeni, a standup comedian who played to sold-out crowds, was a regular on The Tonight Show and appeared in movies, died of a gunshot wound in an apparent suicide, police said Sunday.
A particular thrill was when George Carlin handed Richard the American Comedy Award for “Best Male Stand-up” on ABC TV. He hosted A&E’s “Caroline’s Comedy Hour” for several seasons and the show won the Cable ACE Award for “Best Stand-Up Comedy Show.”
