The company employs over 1,000 staff and opens around 20 productions a year. The RSC plays regularly in London, Stratford-upon-Avon, and on tour across the UK and internationally.
The Royal Shakespeare Company was founded in 1961 by Peter Hall, based in Stratford-upon-Avon and the theatre was renamed the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Our first Live from Stratford-upon-Avon production was broadcast to cinemas and schools across the world in 2013. 2024 Andrew Leveson becomes Executive Director.
