Founded in 1924 as North High School, the institution has long been a cornerstone of education in the Columbus community. Over the decades, it has evolved to meet the changing needs of its students, transitioning to its current identity as Dominion Middle School.
The first school built in the area which is now part of Columbus was a log cabin school-house built in Franklinton, in 1806. It was not until 1845 that the state of Ohio Legislature entrusted the management of Columbus schools to a Board of Education.
Welcome. Columbus City Schools, established in 1845, is the state of Ohio’s largest school district, serving the needs of 46,000 students in 113 schools. The district, which employs close to 9,000 teachers and staff, is under the leadership of Superintendent/CEO Dr. Angela Chapman and a seven-member Board of Education.
