SeaMonkey is a free and open-source Internet suite. It is the continuation of the former Mozilla Application Suite, based on the same source code, which itself grew out of Netscape Communicator and formed the base of Netscape 6 and Netscape 7.

Old and Unofficial Releases. The SeaMonkey Project only supports the latest stable version of SeaMonkey. The below versions are only listed for historical reasons. For some legacy platforms like PPC Mac, the SeaMonkey Project has dropped support.

Jun 27, 2021 · By default, SeaMonkey initializes MailNews in the background even if you just open the browser. This way it can check for new mail and notify you while you can start browsing right away and not be distracted too much by the MailNews window in case there is no new mail.
