Sep 21, 2021 · In 2017, Guerrero Esther Guerrero (Lytzy Lupercio Photography) started at Western International High School in Southwest Detroit, but was unsettled by the educational disparities she and fellow students had to contend with there.
We work with a three-prong approach to racial and economic justice that we categorize as “Defense, Offense, and Dreaming.” “Defense” consists of our direct services and advocacy around issues that our clients face in their day-to-day lives.

This mission requires innovative ways of community lawyering—rooted in defensive and offensive fights for racial justice and economic equity—that build up our poorest residents through direct services and novel approaches to land use, housing, and employment.
