   • Skyland is not a lodge in the great national park tradition. It is similar to many American chain hotels in the room configuration and accommodations. One plus, the room had a comfortable chair, not just a desk chair, and lamp to read by. Surprisingly, despite being in a park, the room did not have a refrigerator.

   Are there any hotels outside Skyland?

   • There are other hotels just outside the park that have to be much more comfortable, and MUCH cheaper. My husband booked directly with the Skyland Resort website, and they charged us $200 for one night's stay, and that was supposed to be the Senior discount.
