Oct 28, 2014 · The last military operations of the war occurred in Manila on August 13, 1998. (The war ended where it had started.) American troops, led by Dewey, engaged in a small battle against the Spanish. The Spanish then surrendered. This little encounter between the two was arranged between Dewey, the governor of Manila, and the Roman Catholic Church.
