Stephen Joseph Cannell (/ ˈ k æ n əl /; February 5, 1941 – September 30, 2010) was an American television producer, writer, novelist, occasional actor, and founder of Cannell Entertainment (formerly Stephen J. Cannell Productions) and The Cannell Studios.
Cannell Entertainment, Inc. (also known as The Cannell Studios and formerly Stephen J. Cannell Productions) was originally started in 1979 by writer Stephen J. Cannell after leaving Universal Studios. He was a writer and producer for most shows.
He has either written or co-written over 300 television scripts, created or co-created over two dozen television series, formed a successful production company, wrote best-selling police novels and even acted in his own and other producers' shows.
