Visited Sterling State Park on a blustery fall day. The shoreline was nice with lots of shell fragments. Interesting trees with roots exposed also along the shore. There's a HUGE campground there, with most all of the campsites in the open. Not the most beautiful of state parks, but worth the visit for nice access to Lake Erie.
The park is situated along 1 mile of sandy shoreline and is home to a modern campground, full-amenity cottages, a boating access site, trails and more. There are plenty of opportunities for shoreline and off-shore fishing.
It is the only Michigan state park located on Lake Erie. The park encompasses 1,300 acres (530 ha) of mostly man-made lagoons and beachfront near the mouth of Sandy Creek. The main attractions at the park include a 256-site campground, beach area, boat launch, and shore fishing lagoons.

The location & State Park is beautiful, great beach. It’s very shallow for at least 15-20 meters. At the end of June the water temperature was warm enough for swimming.
The only state park on Lake Erie, Sterling State Parks 1,300 acres offers great recreational opportunities including over one mile of beach, boating, shore fishing on Lake Erie and the fishing lagoons, lakefront camping, wildlife viewing and 6 miles of trails.
Sterling State Park features a beautiful beach with many water activities available to visitors. It is the only state beach on Lake Erie. Visitors can hike along the nature trail that stretches to River Raisin National Battlefield Park.
