Oct 28, 2023 · Steve Ditko (1927 – 2018) was one of the most distinctive illustrators to work for Marvel Comics during the formative years of the early 1960s and is probably best remembered for his definitive runs on ‘Spider-Man’ and ‘Dr Strange’.
Ditko was the artist for the first 38 issues of The Amazing Spider-Man, co-creating much of the Spider-Man supporting characters and villains with Stan Lee. Beginning with issue #25, Ditko was also credited as the plotter.
