Sue Johnston OBE (born 7 December 1943; Warrington, Lancashire, England) is the actress who portrayed Gladys Denker in the fifth series of Downton Abbey. Johnston is a BAFTA nominated actress also known for her roles in Brookside, Waking the Dead, The Royle Family and Coronation Street.
In May 2014, it was announced that Johnston would guest star in the fifth series of the period drama Downton Abbey. She played Denker, a lady's maid to the Dowager Countess, played by Dame Maggie Smith.
