   I come to the point park area of lookout mountain nearly every time I pass through the area. It is a great place to relax, get gentle exercise, enjoy a cigar outdoors and see breath taking views. Sunset on the west side at this rock is really relaxing. Driving back down the windy road just after dark is a little bit of a pain, but worth the effort!

   Is Sunset Rock a good hike?

   • Take caution on the rock-paved trail if wet. Watch kids and dogs along the edge of Sunset Rock. A fall from here would not be good. You can barely consider this a hike, but for a tenth of a mile walk done a paved path you'll be treated with an amazing view from Sunset Rock.

   How do I get from Sunset Rock to upper truck trail?

   • Upon descending from Sunset Rock, turn left on the Bluff Trail for a very short distance, then go right on the Gum Springs Trail, which makes a relatively steep descent to the Upper Truck Trail in 0.7 miles. Turn right on the Upper Truck Trail which is, as the name implies, basically a gravel jeep road.
