Given a hat box by her client with a hidden camera inside she is told to take a photograph of his wife so he can begin divorce proceedings. Instead when she opens the box the woman is shot dead and she finds herself accused of murder.

PI Tom leaves his Squeeze in charge of the office while he does mens business. A client appears and Squeeze accepts an assignment to take a picture of a woman in a divorce case.
Hat Box Mystery ★★ 1947 A detective's secretary is tricked into shooting a woman and private eye Neal is determined to save her from prison. Although not outstanding, it's worth seeing as perhaps the shortest detective film (a mere 44 min.) to ever make it as a feature.
