Today the band consists of one remaining original member, former front man Tommy Angarano (AKA Tommy Tempest), (Guitar, Keyboards, Guitar Synthesizer and Lead and Backing Vocals). After the original band broke up, in the late 60s, he played in a few other well known bands including The Emotions, Pink Anacin, The Outlaws and Raven.
The original band members included Doug Palmer (rhythm guitar), Bobby Allen (drums), Bill Hickman (bass guitar), Tommy Angarano (vocals) and the late Charlie Bailey (lead guitar). The second version of The Tempests replaced Bill Hickman and Doug Palmer with Mike Hammer (rhythm guitar and vocals) and Buddy Peterson (bass guitar and vocals).

The next version of the Tempests(sm) replaced the late Charlie Bailey with Roy Delese (keyboards) and included Mike Hammer (lead guitar and vocals), Buddy Peterson (Bass guitar and vocals), Brad Myers (drums) and Tommy Angarano (vocals). The photograph, from left to right, features Doug Palmer, Charlie Bailey, and Tommy Angarano, as well as nine teenagers dancing in front of the stage. The Tempests were formed in St. Petersburg, Florida in 1963, when the members were just 12 and 13 years old.
After one of the members was drafted during the Vietnam era, Tommy Angarano pursued additional music interests playing in The Emotions, Pink Anacin, Raven and the Outlaws, before regrouping as "The Tempests". Angarano began his musical career, at an early age, and at the age of 10 appeared on “Ted Mack’s Amateur Hour” playing the accordion.
