Wallsend (/ ˌ w ɔː l z ˈ ɛ n d /) is a town in North Tyneside, Tyne and Wear, England, at the eastern end of Hadrian's Wall. It has a population of 43,842 and lies 4 miles (6.5 kilometres) east of Newcastle upon Tyne.

Wallsend derives its name as the location of the end of Hadrian’s Wall. The town hosted the fort Segedunum which protected the eastern end of Hadrian’s Wall. In dedication to the Romans, Latin signs are dotted throughout the town.
Wallsend’s cranes, floating dock, and other shipbuilding equipment, was dismantled and transported to Bharati Shipyards in India. This video showcases old photos of Wallsend’s shipbuilding past, with eye-catching images of huge ships towering over the terraced streets.
