Abstract. This article presents a biography of Thomas Aquinas, who was born in the family castle of Roccasecca in southern Italy between Rome and Naples. He was sent to Paris (1245–48), to the convent of St. James, for his studies under the direction of Albert the Great, who introduced him to the work of Pseudo-Dionysius.
