The weather cooperated wonderfully as it as a beautiful Friday, July 4th day in 1952. A cemetery tent, borrowed from the local funeral home, was put up in the yard and everything was made ready. From its outset, the reunion was an organized event. In 1952, a moderator was elected for the family.
In 1888, Henry S. Burrage listed this hymn as one of those for which Lowry had written the music, but not the lyrics. [8] Doris Plenn learned the original hymn from her grandmother, who reportedly believed that it dated from the early days of the Quaker movement.
In 1890 his wife Anna died; two years later Lowry married Mary Jane Runyon. [9] [3] In 1894 he provided a memorial hymn to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Lewisburg Baptist church. [6] Lowry continued to live and work in Plainfield until his death, on November 25, 1899. [1]
