Kinderton is an electoral ward and former civil parish in Middlewich, Cheshire, England. History. Kinderton was also historically the name of a township in Middlewich on the opposite side of the River Croco from the current ward. In the Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales (1870–72) John Marius Wilson described Kinderton:
Many of the Cheshire gentry families have a connection with the Venables of Kinderton and they were the ancestors of many of the branches of the Legh and Leigh families through John Venables son of William de Venables and Agnes de Legh, who changed his name to Legh.
Kinderton is generally believed to be the Condate of the Romans; a Roman road, called Kind street or King street, went from it to Manchester; and other roads went hence to Chesterton, Wroxeter, Chester, and Warrington.
Kinderton-with-HuIme, a township in Middlewich parish, Cheshire, immediately E of the town of Middlewich. Post town, Middlewieh. Acreage, 1689; population, 589. The manor belonged anciently to the Venables, and passed to the Vemons. A house erected by the Minshalls is here, and bears date 1616.

Birth
Thomas was born in 1469 to Petronell, daughter and heiress of Sir Piers Ceverswall and William de Venables of Goldborne, who held the barony for the lands of Kinderton, settled on him by his father in 1464. William secondly married Katherine, daughter and coheiress of Robert Grosvenor of Holme and widow of Richard Wynynton. No children were borne of this marriage and Thomas thus remained the only child and heir of William de Venables.
Marriage
Thomas married Cicely, daughter of John Stanley of Weever, although the date and location of their marriage is unknown. They had three children, son William who married Elenor, daughter and coheir of Richard Cotton of Ridware and two daughters, Katherine, who possibly married John Massy of Potington and Isabel, who married Geoffrey in 1517, son and heir of Peter Shakerley.

Venables, originally le Venour or Venator, is a baronial surname that originated near Evreaux, Normandy. May 5, 2014 · The First Three Barons of Kinderton. Gislebertus (Gilbert) de Venables came to England with William the Conqueror in 1066, and is found in the Battle Abbey Roll. Early documents also referred to Gilbert as de Venator, the Latin reference to his home village and family location.
