Nov 23, 2023 · Biography. Lionel of Antwerp, Duke of Clarence was the third, but second surviving, son of Edward III, King of England. He was born on 29 November 1328 in Antwerp, and so is typically styled of "Lionel of Antwerp." As a child, he was made Guardian of England from 1 July 1345 to 25 June 1346. He was nominated a Knight of the Garter in 1361.
