Orca show at SeaWorld San Diego. Orcas, or killer whales, are large predatory cetaceans that were first captured live and displayed in exhibitions in the 1960s. They soon became popular attractions at public aquariums and aquatic theme parks due to their intelligence, trainability, striking appearance, playfulness in captivity and sheer size.

SeaWorld Ohio was a theme park in the SeaWorld chain located in Aurora, Ohio. It opened in 1970, and closed in 2000. It housed killer whales seasonally during its operation. SeaWorld Ohio was the second SeaWorld park to be opened, after SeaWorld San Diego.
Sep 10, 2014 · Yes, that SeaWorld had a park in Ohio, directly across from the Geauga Lake amusement park, a few hundred feet across the pond. SeaWorld was a complement to Geauga Lake, and it, too, grew and grew. The wildlife park added to its staple killer whale shows, dolphin habitats, and water ski spectaculars.
By February 27, SeaWorld Orlando whale shows resumed with trainers practicing increased caution and not joining the whales in the water. SeaWorld announced they have invited experts from outside marine parks and aquariums to review SeaWorld's handling of killer whales and also Tilikum specifically.
God DAMN do I miss SeaWorld. Such a totally out-of-place location for an ocean-themed park, but it was far and away my favorite in northeast Ohio. The only other park I can think of that had whales and dolphins so far north was Marineland in Niagara Falls. Now I want to go on YouTube and find some old videos of the Shamu show!
