Sep 19, 2021 · One of the most popular photo opportunities at Badwater Basin is the sea level sign. High up on a rocky cliff face toward the east, looking similar to what the Hollywood sign might look like on another planet, the sea level sign is bewildering to read.
Sea Level. There is not much else at the Badwater viewpoint apart from an orientation table, identifying many of the surrounding mountains. High in the rocky cliffs above the road, another sign reads 'SEA LEVEL', giving a good indication of just how low the land is.
Near Badwater Basin, a sign on the side of the Black Mountains indicates sea level. This sign is a striking visual contrast, highlighting the vast elevation difference between the lowest and highest points in the contiguous United States.
