Strung out along the shoreline of Lago Nahuel Huapi, in the middle of the national park of the same name, Bariloche (formally San Carlos de Bariloche) has one of the most gorgeous settings imaginable.
- Tour Bariloche’s Civic Center. Get to know the heart of the city of Bariloche from Plaza de los Pioneros. This square is surrounded by historic buildings such as the Secretary of Tourism, the Museum of Patagonia and the Sarmiento Library.
- Walk along the famous small circuit in Bariloche. The Circuito Chico takes you through some of the most beautiful places in Bariloche, bordering Nahuel Huapi Lake, Campanario Hill and Lopez Hill.
- Enjoy Lopez Hill. Cerro Lopez is 2075 meters high and from its summit you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the lakes and mountains of the region.
- Visit the picturesque Colonia Suiza. This is a small colony that was founded in the 1800s, when Swiss immigrants settled in the area to produce timber.
- Take the gondola or hike up Cerro Otto. We’ll start off with a popular ski hill that offers so much to see and do no matter what time of year you come: Cerro Otto.
- Go on a walking tour. Walking through a new town is always one of my favorite things to do when traveling. To my surprise, Bariloche is steeped in World War II history.
- Drink local craft beer. The craft brewery scene in Bariloche is surprisingly pretty good. You know my love for craft beer, so when the opportunity to enjoy an ice-cold brewski in Bariloche came up, you know I was in!
- Drive the Road of the Seven Lakes. The Road of the Seven Lakes is a famous drive in the area of Bariloche. This particular stretch of road drives past 7 absolutely stunning lakes: Correntoso, Espejo, Escondido, Villarino, Falkner, Hermoso, and Machonico – hence the name.
