Bridget Hayward, 21-year-old daughter of the late Margaret Sullavan, the actress, apparently committed suicide by an overdose of sleeping pills, the police said yesterday.
Aug 6, 2022 · Bridget Hayward was the daughter of actress Margaret Sullavan and theatrical agent Leland Hayward. She died in 1960, the same year that her mother died of an overdose. Bridget also died of an overdose, and was found in her Manhattan apartment in October, 1960.
Bridget Hayward (1939–1960), who died by suicide from a barbiturate overdose in October 1960, aged 21, less than a year after her mother's death from exactly the same cause, and only a few months after her father's fourth marriage.

Peter Fonda named his daughter in honor of Bridget Hayward, Sullavan's second child, who died by suicide in 1960. He had admitted he was in love with Hayward, but they never had a relationship. After separating from Fonda, Sullavan began a relationship with Broadway producer Jed Harris that was tumultuous and short-lived.
