Chief Dan George OC (born Geswanouth Slahoot; July 24, 1899 – September 23, 1981) was a chief of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation, a Coast Salish band whose Indian reserve is located on Burrard Inlet in the southeast area of the District of North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He also was an actor, musician, poet and author.
After spending much of his early life as a longshoreman, a construction worker, and a school-bus driver, Chief Dan George auditioned for the role of Ol' Antoine on Cariboo Country (1960), a CBC series, and won the part. He made his screen debut at age 65.

Chief Dan (Teswahno) George was an actor born on Burrard Indian Reserve No. 3, British Columbia, in 1899. To most Canadians he is the first well-known Indigenous artist. Until he was 60 he had done a series of jobs and was the chief of the Squamish Band of Burrard Inlet, BC.
